Boating Magazine sea trials the Leader 10.5 Series 2
The Leader 10.5 S2 is built for adventure, whether that means beach-combing, cruising, or watersports.
The Jeanneau Leader 10.5 Series 2 is the downsized version of the 12.5, but it still runs on a beautiful Michael Peters, deep V hull that is designed to give the boat an extra soft, stable ride. This boat is ideally designed for dual Yamaha 425 XTOs, but it runs beautifully on two 300s just as well.
The Leader 10.5 Series 2 has electronic throttle and shift, which is integrated into the 425 XTOs. The instrumentation is in full view, complete with a Yamaha Command Link gauge and a Garmin display, with plenty of room for a second display, VHF radio, and audio remote control.
With a tilting wheel and three bucket seats with flip-up bolsters, it’s comfortable to drive this boat standing up or sitting down. You can also access the helm from the starboard side or the port side like a center console.
The Leader 10.5 S2 is set up to entertain - the cockpit is the perfect example of how. The first thing you notice is the summer galley system complete with grill, freshwater sink, and a cooler that doubles as a livewell if you’re a fisherman. Down below, it has a refrigerator and three storage drawers. In the center of the cockpit, there’s a large cocktail table, and if you need more space the dual seats on either side fold away. Or, drop the cocktail table down and use the filler cushions to make an enormous sunpad.
