Everyone embraced the spirit of Christmas on the Hong Kong waters!
On Saturday 10 December 2022, 14 Jeanneau sailboats met for the first 2022 COA Jeanneau Christmas Cup, co-organized by the Cruiser Owners Association (COA) and the regional Jeanneau dealer, China Pacific Marine
A sailing event in the middle of the Hong Kong waters
This unique race, split into two main legs, had a course running round the beautiful islands of Hong Kong.
For leg 1, the boats were divided up into three separate groups based on their start locations:
- 1. Start from Sai Kung
Don Chow, Managing Director of China Pacific Marine, was among the members of the first crew, on a Sun Odyssey 490 called Perfect Day
- 2. Start from Victoria Harbour
The second fleet was made up of Peter Wong, among others, the owner of a Sun Fast 3600.
- 3. Start from Aberdeen
Amon those taking part in the last group was Simon Cheung, the owner of a Sun Odyssey 440 called Fairmile
Race results
Arthur Ho won Leg 1 on his sailboat GA in the Sai Kung fleet, and Frank Chu, the owner of the sailboat Fly by Wire took the top prize in the Harbour fleet.
Leg 2 assembled all the sailboats and Arthur Ho had a very good crossing, with GA emerging as the overall winner of leg 2 on HKPN corrected time, ahead of Bob Roger’s Orrin Blue and Klaus Zimmer’s Bao Bao.
It was a wonderful day, seeing so many sailors dressed up for this fun event leading up to Christmas. We are eagerly looking forward to next year’s Jeanneau Christmas Cup!
We are very excited to be part of this race, one of many to come, as Jeanneau continues to support sailing and cruising in local waters.
TANGUY TERTRAIS, APAC SALES DIRECTOR AT JEANNEAU
The winners will all receive awards at the prize-giving ceremony that will take place in February 2023.
