50th EDHEC Sailing Cup

Jeanneau is supporting a crew of students who will participate in the EDHEC Sailing Cup with an iconic Jeanneau sailboat:  the Sélection.

Jeanneau is Partnering with ACESIV in the EDHEC Sailing Cup

Jeanneau is partnering with the ACESIV Sailing Association, at the ei.CESI in Saint-Nazaire, a university offering part-time engineering programmes and specialised Masters degrees.  The association is composed of eight students, six of whom – Robin, Erwan, Alban, Lucas, Axel and Théophile – have taken on the challenge of racing in the 50th EDHEC Sailing Cup, which will take place from the 22nd to the 28th of April 2018 in Brest, France.

The Number 1 Student Sporting Event in Europe

Every year, over 160 schools are represented in the EDHEC Sailing Cup, with 3,000 students participating, for a total of 23 different nationalities and three trophies at stake:  Sea, Land and Sand.  For one week, the young athletes compete in the regatta.

Some Work Necessary to Prepare the Sailboat for the Race

The ACESIV crew will race on a Jeanneau sailboat, a Sélection, rented for the occasion.  This boat has raced many times before.  As such, the young students have undertaken some work to prepare the boat before its launch date, on Monday, March 19th, 2018:  thorough cleaning of the exterior, replacement of the deck hatches, engine modification, and antifouling…

Next Steps

Currently in Cherbourg, the sailboat will be delivered to the port of Cancale so that the crew can regularly train, and then on to Brest to prepare for the departure of the race, scheduled for the 22nd of April 2018.
