An ethereal
journey between Sardinia, Corsica and the Côte d’Azur, aboard two Cap Camarat
8.5s powered by twin 225 HP engines…
This was a
challenge successfully met by the two crews, composed of Jeanneau staff members
and representatives from Moteur Boat magazine
and Vela [&] Motore, who, in two
days’ time – from the morning of Thursday, May 10th to the evening
of Friday, May 11th – covered 323 nautical miles at a sustained pace:
“Superb cruising, even if we did not
train,” indicated Stéphanie de Loustal, Chief Editor of Moteur Boat.
- Thursday,
May 10th morning departure:
Alghero – Bonifaccio
“Along the
coastline of Assinara Island, near Cap Falcone in Sardinia, we were cruising on
translucent waters, like in Bora-Bora. The boats were in suspension on a
perfectly flat, calm sea.”
She
witnessed equally beautiful scenery in the Maddalena archipelago: “the place is rather unevenly paved; you have
to keep an eye on the plotter,” and then calm seas at the Strait of Bonifaccio.
Afterward, there was a mooring in the Lavezzi
Islands for an overnight stay in the port of Bonifaccio. At this time of year, there was no problem
finding a slip, of course.
Friday,
May 11th evening arrival: Bonifaccio – Cap Camarat
Gorgeous
weather, unforgettable views captured in photos taken from a helicopter over
the Bay of Valinco. A fuelling stop was
followed by a marvellous pause amongst the red rocks of
Scandola.
A weather
bulletin announced the arrival of a front in the evening. So, making a 5:00 PM departure for the Continent
in a light chop, and covering 125 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 27 to 30
knots, they arrived at Cap Camarat at 8:30 PM.
Challenge met!
Exceptional
weather conditions, flawless organisation, landscapes of dreams….
This rally
has met its objective, 100 per cent: proving to all that navigation at sea is
accessible to all Cap Camarat owners with a minimum of preparation, favourable
weather conditions and respect for basic safety guidelines.
