The Love Boat #9: Sailing to Martinique

Sarah and Sébastien left everything behind for a transatlantic crossing aboard a Sun Légende 41. After the Antilles, they headed for Martinique.

“Heading back up to Martinique by way of the Grenadines was intense.

Our time was measured out in day sails filled with emotion and breath-taking places! The cruises were short, and we left early in the morning, arriving at our destination in the early afternoon, which allowed us to enjoy a swim and a tour on land.

We had a happy surprise: the anchorages were not crowded, and remained reasonable. We even found a little bay where The Love Boat was alone!

The anchorages are safe: they have a sandy bottom and when the coral must be protected, mooring balls are available at reasonable prices.

Passing through customs and immigration is still obligatory. At the entrance and exit of each territory, we must pay entry fees according to the number of people on board. So, the itinerary must be planned while keeping the locations of these offices in mind. But the process has been easy, and we haven’t had any problems.

The Magic of Martinique…

Upon our arrival in Martinique, and after our friends had left, we spent one night in the marina of Le Marin to refill our water tanks and to visit a large grocery store for provisions. We finally found cheeses, wine and meats!

We also re-joined our Quebecois friends for a long update on the last three months and our respective transatlantic crossings. Our crews each had stories to tell.

And it is not over! Now, we are heading on to Dominica, a hiker’s paradise.”
