Jeanneau has the pleasure of introducing you to the (slightly crazy) wager of one young couple: leave everything behind for a transatlantic crossing aboard a Sun Légende 41!
Here are the first reports of their adventure as it unfolds, over the weeks and across the waves…
“Leaving on a voyage aboard a sailboat – we had dreamed of this. Sébastien and I have been racing or cruising together for a long time. Leaving to sail far away and for a long time, double-handed, this is a dream that we have shared since we met!
The project that we began three years ago is being realised today: a moment of freedom sailing around the Atlantic aboard our Sun Légende 41, “The Love Boat.” The choice of boat was obvious. The opinions of those who had sailed for long distances on this sailboat were all positive: quick, stable, liveable, equipped with the indispensable aft transom, and also gifted with a beautiful silhouette. We found our rare pearl in Holland, a Sun Légende from 1989 that had been very well maintained by some fastidious owners. Two cabins, a spacious head and shower compartment, and a saloon that could welcome quite a few guests.... The principal modifications were made to adapt the sailboat for our voyage: an arch, solar panels and a wind generator. Our boat delighted us, as much for its ideal size for sailing double-handed as for its handling at sea and interior furnishings.
We will travel through the Canaries, Cap Verde, the Antilles and come back through the Azores to finish our journey in Lorient, our home port. Since our departure at the end of August, this has been a great phase of freedom and just simply living: fishing, reading, learning about the weather, drawing, and all the pastimes that our daily lives often would not permit. But we also took the time to choose our destination according to our interests and the advice given by "pontoon radio." Because meeting people along the way, this is part of our voyage, just like those moments spent on the open water, just the two of us. Some special moments await aboard The Love Boat!”
More updates of their voyage coming soon!
