On board the Sun Odyssey 410: Our home on the water

Since we left the dock for our great adventure, "The Odyssey Experience," after the Grand Pavois boat show in La Rochelle, our Sun Odyssey 410, Tiboulen, has become much more than just a sailboat: it is now our true home.

As five friends embarked on a journey that will take us to Tahiti, Tiboulen is at the heart of our odyssey across the oceans.

Life as five: a question of balance

Living on a boat with five people, even a large one, is not always a smooth sail! You have to adapt, share spaces, and respect everyone’s rhythm.

We’ve all found our little corners, like the spacious cockpit where we spend a lot of time: it’s where we share meals, plan the next steps, or talk about life under the stars.

Inside, the clever layout allows us to live peacefully, even with everything we’ve packed for a year!

We were a little concerned at first about the amount of gear, from surfboards to wings and kites... but everything fits perfectly! There’s plenty to do while at anchor or in port, whether solo or in a group, and most importantly, it helps create wonderful memories.

A boat that inspires confidence

We are not professional sailors, but we learn quickly. Tiboulen is a reassuring sailboat, even when the conditions get more challenging.

During our test sail in Brittany in August, we encountered tough conditions, and everything went smoothly. Everyone enjoys taking the helm or adjusting the sails, even on long passages.

But sometimes, when the sea gets truly unruly, we’re happy to see the port come into view!

At sea, things aren’t always as perfect as in the magazines, and we’ve already faced some challenges: moorings that are too exposed or large waves hitting the transom and coming into the boat. But our faithful Tiboulen has always kept its course, bringing us safely to port.

Memories at every stop

Every day on board is a new adventure, whether at sea or at anchor. Discovering remote villages, diving into turquoise waters, or simply watching the sunset from the deck, everything takes on a unique flavor when you live to the rhythm of the ocean.

We feel incredibly lucky to be able to live this experience. It’s not just a crossing to Tahiti; it’s a human journey, full of encounters, challenges, and unforgettable moments.

We can’t wait to share the rest of our journey with you, but for now, we’re getting ready for our big transatlantic crossing! See you soon, somewhere between two horizons!
