I’m pulling into Whakatane, in New Zealand’s Eastern Bay of Plenty.  It’s a gateway to the active offshore volcano, White Island.

This time, Clarke takes us cruising and diving in waters just off the coast of White Island… a dangerous expedition, since White Island is an active volcano!  Bacteria survive there in waters that are over 100 degrees Celsius, and a bit further, in less scalding waters, we find incredible flora and fauna.  Maomao, Demoiselles, Pigfish, Salps and urchins cohabitate to enhance an already magnificent landscape!
