Minorca
We leave Ibiza, headed for Minorca!
Minorca is the smallest of the three principal Balearic Islands, located to the north of her sister isles. This island has managed to keep her charm and authentic qualities.
We sail from calas to calas, each more beautiful than the last: alternating between large beaches with fine sand, very deep calas with their pretty towns, small, rugged calas sheltered by the tall cliffs where we must anchor and then tie off to the cliff.
We indulge in the joys of swimming, the children having learned the breathing technique with snorkel masks, and the four of us discover the underwater world, as well as its numerous habitants.
We set anchor for several days at the entrance to the Bay of Mahon, in a charming and particularly sheltered spot. Here, there are no homes, and we are surrounded by two old military forts. We set out to discover one of them, to the great pleasure of the children, who pretend to be soldiers, hiding in the tunnels and wandering through this great fortification.
Without a doubt, the Cala Coves takes the prize among the calas of Minorca. It is very steep and rugged, so we head out in our dinghy to discover all the hidden corners in a landscape strangely resembling that of the Gorges du Tarn. It is marvellous.
Majorca
It is time to leave Minorca to head on to Majorca!
After two days of provisioning, organising, washing and preparing the boat, we meet a couple of friends traveling with their children, who come to join us for a week on board. The children are happy to see each other. Blanche and Gabin can at last play…in French.
The time passes by quickly, and we leave Majorca for one quick last stop on Ibiza before definitively departing the Balearic Islands.
On to Morocco!
